Ally’s Bio (continued)
She has a true appreciation for life and has grown in her ability to talk about her feelings and her experience related to HIV/AIDS. Her mom is infected with HIV and Ally’s life has been different since the day she found out. She travels with her mother every three months into the city for health check ups. She keeps this aspect of her life a secret. She fears being treated differently. She is uncertain about her mother’s health and their future.
Ally enjoys the blessings each day brings. Ally said that, “If HIV were a person I would tell it, ‘Stop spreading! Get out of all these people, because HIV is in too many people and it hurts the person inside and it hurts other people emotionally.’”
Q&A with Ally
Q: What are some challenges or differences in your life because of HIV/AIDS?
A: I have a lot of fear. Fear of my friends finding out because they wouldn’t take it the right way. When I am with my friends, I can’t every really be totally honest with them. I also have a lot of fear not knowing if my mom will be okay.
Q: If you could wish for anything in the world, what is your wish for 2009?
A: My wish for ’09 is that I get a better report card…..I mean, mine wasn’t that bad, but I definitely want a better one.
